The 45-degree leg press is a version of the seated leg press in which the plate is pressed at an angle of 45 degrees rather than parallel to the wall. This machine helps target the quads, hamstrings, and glutes while also involving the adductors and calves. Due to its greater range of motion and increased starting weight the 45-degree leg press is slightly more challenging than the sitting form. Increased resistance and increased engagement of the glutes and hamstrings are factors that may make this a more effective strength and mass building exercise.
